The Stoney Nakoda people of Paul First Nation are descendants of the Assiniboine people who settled in the Wabamun Lake area, east of Edmonton, Alberta. Their culture is focused strongly on nature and the protection of nature as they view all objects, animate and inanimate as everything that is sacred and spiritual. The ancestors of the Paul First Nation migrated over a vast territory from Hudson Bay through the foothills of Montana and after settling in this new territory near Edmonton, joined Treaty 6 in the late 1800’s.
Paul First Nation Partnership
In 2022, CDN finalized a formal partnership agreement with the Paul First Nation community. This agreement allows CDN to continue to expand our commitment to work together with Indigenous communities in areas we work. We look forward to strengthening this partnership as we continue to understand this community and their values. Much like our other Indigenous community partnerships, this agreement allows CDN to provide meaningful work & training opportunities through shared project success and support for multiple community initiatives.
